There are a lot of people at Sandhills who are involved in our community with local ministries. We’ve listed the ones that Sandhills works with on a regular basis, and would love to tell you more about these ministries. Sign up today! Someone from our church will get in touch and connect you with other people at Sandhills who are already volunteering in the ministry that you are interested in.
We partner with Rice Creek Elementary School through their Mentors In Motion program. This school-based mentoring program facilitates dedicated one-on-one time with a positive role model in order to foster relationships that help students become life long learners and leaders.
Being a mentor to a student is rewarding, encouraging, and a lot of fun! Contact Randa Cole at (803) 699-2900 x.3220 for more information about getting involved with the Mentors In Motion program.
The Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center offers a variety of services, including free pregnancy tests with immediate results, free ultrasounds, and information about STIs and abstinence. Some of the staff have experienced crisis pregnancies themselves, so they are experienced in providing a listening ear, compassionate help and practical resources. If you would like to volunteer, there are a wide variety of opportunities available at Daybreak (803-771-6634).
International Friendship Ministries (IFM) was created to provide spiritual fellowship for international students and other internationals living in the United States. Sandhills partners with IFM on a regular basis by volunteering to help serve an evening meal to the students, and engage them in conversation.
June Smith is our contact person for IFM. She would be happy to answer any questions you have about helping with this ministry. You can reach her at (803) 528-4098. Sign-ups to help with the dinner will be posted on our website as they are scheduled.
The Cooperative Ministry serves the Columbia area as an instrument of God’s love by providing a coordinated charitable response to assist those in need. They seek to improve the quality of life for the people they help by providing direct assistance, counseling, prayer, and guidance to other available community resources. Sandhills supports the Cooperative Ministry through annual donations and volunteer support.
Contact the The Cooperative Ministry volunteer coordinator at (803) 799-3853 if you can help.
