Serve the community

Kindness Outreach:  Making a Difference through Loving Our Community.

We are passionate about loving our neighbors and sharing the love and message of Jesus with everyone. Serving with our Kindness Outreach ministry will allow you to make a difference in our immediate community, as well as city-wide through our strategic partner relationships. We are honored to serve along side the following ministries and we hope you will too.

If you're interested in connecting with our community, let us know.  Our Outreach Ministry will get in touch and connect you with others who are already volunteering in the ministry that you are interested in. Let's make a difference by loving our neighbors!

BECOME A MENTOR

Invest in the youth at Rice Creek Elementary by being a mentor. For as little two 20 minute sessions per month, you have the opportunity to encourage and support a student to achieve academic excellence. You can also help assist in their personal growth; which helps the student to become a responsible, productive and contributing member of his or her community. community partners

We believe that the church should not be turned inward, but should look for ways to reach out to the community around it.  We have created partnerships with local organizations to accomplish this.

We'd love to connect you with  our community partners.  Let's make a difference by loving our neighbors!

The Cooperative Ministry serves the Columbia area as an instrument of God’s love by providing a coordinated charitable response to assist those in need. They seek to improve the quality of life for the people they help by providing direct assistance, counseling, prayer, and guidance to other available community resources. Contact the The Cooperative Ministry volunteer coordinator at 803.799.3853 to serve.

From the inception of Sandhills Community Church, we wanted to represent the Lord Jesus                                                   Christ in our community.  Our goals have involved both gospel proclamation and gospel work.                                             Like any other church, we want to live a life of generosity.  Part of this is determining the

best way to respond to the many needs before us.  We receive phone calls every week, and                                                   some visits, from people looking for assistance. Unfortunately, we discovered some these requests were not legitimate.  This created a dilemma.  How do we demonstrate the grace of Christ in such a way that we can be a genuine help to those truly in need?

A member of our church told us about The Cooperative Ministry.  We heard the mission statement and realized The Cooperative Ministry shared our heart.  "To increase the economic self-sufficiency of people experiencing poverty in the Midlands through crisis assistance and sustainability programs."  This organization partners with those really trying to make it in life, but who struggle from time to time.  This timely aid maintains, and often restores, the dignity of these individuals.

Practically speaking, it's always easier to partner with an organization doing something well than to try to create a whole new system yourself.  The Cooperative Ministry was formed by local churches coming together to address an issue with which they each struggled - how to best help those in need around them.  Our church is now actively involved in The Cooperative Ministry.  We give an annual gift as part of our church budget.  In the month of December, we encourage our people to make a gift to The Cooperative Ministry.  We encourage our people to contribute to the 'Autos for Opportunities' program.  We have also partnered to help sort clothing.  We have been blessed by our partnership with The Cooperative Ministry and believe it is making a Christ-like difference in our community.

Daybreak LifeCare Center

The Daybreak LifeCare Center offers a variety of services, including free pregnancy tests with immediate results, free ultrasounds, and information about STIs and abstinence.  Some of the staff have experienced crisis pregnancies themselves, so they are experienced in providing a listening ear, compassionate help and practical resources. If you would like to volunteer, there are a wide variety of opportunities available at Daybreak (803.771.6634).
