To lead an Activity or Community Group at Sandhills, we require that you be a member or are in the process of becoming a member.  Membership is not required to lead a Connect Group. Click here for information on our Membership class, Foundations.

There are 3 kinds of groups that you could lead at Sandhills. 1. Activity Groups - These are organized around common interests like working on cars or doing crafts but with a spiritual component.  The expectation is that leaders will at least provide a devotional and have a time of prayer in addition to their activity. 2. Community Groups - These are traditional Bible studies that meet regularly and focus on the study of the Bible, prayer, fellowship, caring for one another and outreach. 3. Connect Groups - These are groups of about 2 to 4 people that meet for mentoring or discipleship.  These groups are closed to new members and don't take attendance.  Some examples of these groups are a family that wants to commit to doing a Bible study together for a semester, a couple who wants to process a book on marriage together, or 2 people that meet for accountability.  Pastor Tom can suggest materials to use for a Bible study and will check in with the group a few times during the semester to see how things are going.  Membership in the church is not required to lead one of these groups.

Our vision for Groups Ministry, how we do Groups, as well as what we believe to be functions and practices of a Group Leader, are outlined in the New Group Leader Expectation & Info Packet. We will also go over this document at our New Leaders meeting & lunch. We also ask all leaders watch the Lead Like a Shepherd Videos, which are available on RightNow Media. RightNow Media is a paid subscription service, which we give free to members of our congregation. Once we have received that back from you, a member of the Discipleship Team will be back in touch. Note: The application will also have the dates of the next New Leader Training. Even if you have led Groups at other churches, our New Leader Training is for all leaders new to leading at Sandhills.
