𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟖:𝟏-𝟐 — “And all the people gathered as one man into the square before the Water Gate. And they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the LORD had commanded Israel. So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the seventh month.”

𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 The Israelites in Jerusalem asked Ezra to read them the word of God. They wanted to understand more about the Lord and hear His instruction. They wanted to learn God’s will so they could apply it to their lives. We are reminded in Hebrews 4:12–13, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Knowing and applying God’s word is key to our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓 Ask God to give you a hunger for His Word in the Bible. Ask the Spirit to give you insight into God’s word in both understanding and application.
