Romans Road

The Romans Road to salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the Book of Romans. This is a simple yet powerful method of explaining why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what the results of salvation are.

Salvation

Milestone 1
Romans 3:23 - Our Problem

The first verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Our problem is that we all have done things that have offended God and God’s standard is perfection. No one is innocent.

Milestone 3
Romans 10:9 - Our Response

The third verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Because Jesus took the punishment for our offense, all we have to do is respond to Him in faith, trusting His death as the payment for our sins and submitting to Him as Lord - and we will be saved!

Milestone 2
Romans 6:23a - Our Cost

The second verse on the Romans Road to salvation, Romans 6:23a, teaches us about the cost of sin - "For the wages of sin is death” The punishment that we have earned for our offense against God is death. Not just physical death, but present and eternal separation from God.

Milestone 4
Romans 5:1 - Our Gift

The final aspect of the Romans Road to salvation is the result of salvation. Romans 5:1 has this wonderful message, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ we can have a relationship of peace with God.  Our penalty for sin has been paid by Jesus and his gift to us will be a present relationship with Him and eternity in heaven .

Conclusion

Would you like to follow the Romans Road to salvation? If so, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation! "God, I know that I have sinned against you and deserve punishment for my offenses. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I can be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation and submit to You as Lord. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!"
